OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 were both flagships and high-end devices, although the latest addition to the series falls in a rather different category. Design
OnePlus One was rolled out in two different colors: Sandstone Black, and Silk White. However, the choices were taken away when OnePlus 2 was launched as it came in only Sandstone Black. With OnePlus X, you get a little more sleek and stylish as OnePlus has rolled it out in Ceramic, and Onyx colored cases. If you choose the latter, you get a rounded metal bezel and black glass , designed for additional stylishness on your phone. As for Ceramic, you get beveled edges, with OnePlus labelling it limited edition, manufacturing only 10,000 units around the world. As for the weight, OnePlus X is the lightest of the three; the Ceramic model measures 0.34 lbs, although it is Onyx that weighs only 0.3lbs. OnePlus 2 was the heaviest, measuring 0.38lbs, while OnePlus One stood at 0.34lbs.
Display
Just as you would expect, the latest, OnePlus X, comes out on top, showcasing the best resolution of the three; the device is home to a 5-inch full HD display, offering 441ppi. Compared to this, OnePlus One, and OnePlus 2, both offer a 5.5-inch display, with 1920 x 1080p.
Specs
OnePlus One and OnePlus X, rather surprisingly, are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor, with Adreno 330 GPU. Remarkably, both devices have 3GB of RAM. OnePlus 2 has more firepower under the hood, being home to Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, with Adreno 430 GPU running alongside 4GB of RAM. OnePlus One was initially offered in two variants in terms of storage, 16GB and 64GB. Its successor, OnePlus 2 had two options as well; 32GB, and 64GB. With OnePlus X, you only have 16GB of internal storage space, although it is the first of the OnePlus smartphones to offer a microSD card slot, thanks to which you can expand the storage to 128GB.
Camera
OnePlus X offers 13MP, with f/2.2 aperture, and 0.2-second autofocus. On the face of the phone is an 8MP shooter, designed specifically to produce top-notch selfies, thanks to the Beauty Mode. Compared to this, OnePlus 2 has 13MP rear-camera, with a 0.2-second AF, and f/2.0 aperture. OnePlus One sports a 13MP Sony Exmor IMX214 rear-camera, with f/2.0 aperture. On the face of both devices is a 5MP camera for your selfies.
Battery
Given the needs of a contemporary smartphone user, it is surprising to know that the latest phone in the series is powered by the smallest battery; OnePlus X has a significantly smaller battery than its predecessors, being home to a 2,525 mAh battery. OnePlus One has a 3,100 mAh battery, while its successor had the biggest battery of the lot, measuring 3,300 mAh.
OS
OnePlus One was powered by CyanogenMod, which was OnePlus’ exclusive software, although it was based on Android. OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X are both fired by OxygenOS2, built around Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Price
OnePlus One, the 64GB model, carries a $299 price-tag, while OnePlus 2’s 64GB model costs $389.
